Christian Service and Social Concerns

A Church in Solidarity

As a community of believers  we support people - here and around the world. We are in solidarity with all people, especially with those who are in crises, be it life-crisis or faith-crisis, financial or other emergency needs.

We are committed to people. We bear responsibility with other agencies for a life-giving organization of society and the environment, in which no one is left out in dire need of the basic necessities of life.

Personal Commitment

Christian Service (in Greek « Diakonia ») is carried out primarily in the commitment of every individual christian. In the parish it is materialized in voluntary service. For certain tasks professional competence in social work or pastoral theology is necessary. Thus, we have professionally trained social and pastoral workers.

Social Work in all parishes

In Winterthur there are offices for social services in all seven parishes ((link)) run by parish social workers. A networking office is responsible for coordinating the different parish social work activities.
